It happens every year. The bacteria is always there, and always has been. There's just more people in and around the water in the summer months. Still scary though. I worked with a guy who encountered it. His hand and arm looked like it had been put in a hydraulic press and he only had two fingers left. Said when it first started out, he thought it was a ant bite.

 Yeah the news plays it up every year like it's gonna be some major plague. Not saying it's not some bad stuff but they love to overdramatize it.
