As all of you guys know, I fish offshore mostly. Since i cant do that right now I thought I'd try to catch some flounders. Im not asking for any ons favorite spot or any thing but just where and when do i go to maximize my success of catching a few. I could also gladly trade an offshore spot (the ones i fish are mostly public) for a good to decent flounder spot.
D, I wish I could help you but I'm in a very similar boat. I"ve done most of my fishing in the gom and a little under the lights on the river. I have gigged some flounder but have yet to catch one. I keep saying, one of these days, I'll go out and target flounder but so far, that day hasn't arrived. I hope someone gives you some good tips to save your fishing summer!
Its all good man... To combat the no fishing we have been loading the boat up with scantly clad women, beer, a rod holder grill, a tube and wake board and copious amounts of alcohol and ride to gravine island and have a good ole time... Only one thing better than fishing, a bunch of drunk scantly clad women on the boat.
Hey DD ,put in on the causeway with some live shrimp or minnows and go out under the tensaw bridge.Go about a mile or so and turn in the first right at "The pass".Turn back to the left and go back behind the coal dock. There are numerous old concrete pilings around the area which usually harbor flounder and reds.a trolling motor is good here due to the concrete waiting to shred your prop.Fish on the bottom. You will p/u some sheeps also along with some hangs!
ps:when you turn back to the left ,you will pass the liberty ships on the left.
