Restoration of the northern tip of Mon Louis Island draws near with final grading and excavation of the tidal creek. The project includes shoreline stabilization with a continuous rock breakwater positioned roughly along the 1995 footprint, creation of approximately 4 acres of marsh, and dredging of the Fowl River navigational channel. The Alabama Conservation Corps will be on hand Friday morning to plant marshland vegetation. This project was designed by Thompson Engineering, funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and managed by the Mobile Bay NEP.
